Welcome to the Lumberton Public Library!

Library Update – September 24, 2020

PROTOCOLS – Beginning Thursday, October 1st.

  •  Limited hours: Hours will be limited to allow daily cleaning of the library and material. Open Monday thru Friday (Temporarily closed on Saturday)

           10 A.M. UNTIL 5 P.M.

  • Limited items checked out – Patrons will be allowed 5 items per card. Each item must be isolated and disinfected when returned. Therefore, limiting items is necessary to prevent a bottleneck of isolated items. Only books will be checked out due to material sanitation protocol. Sorry, no movies are available to check out at this time.
  • 75 % capacity – The library’s max capacity is 65. Therefore, a maximum of 48 people will be allowed in the library at one time.
  • Sanitizing upon entering – All patrons MUST sanitize their hands upon entering. You may either use hand sanitizer available at the door or wash your hands in the restrooms.
  • 6 feet apart – All patrons MUST have a mask or face covering of some kind in addition to maintaining a safe distance of at least 6 feet apart at all times while inside the library, with the exception of members of the same family. Visible pre-measured lines are placed on the floor to help ensure patron safety in distancing.
  • Limited services – Per Executive Order GA-18, “any components of libraries that have interactive functions”. Our Public Access Computers (PAC) have modified practices as follows:
  1. Present a valid government issued photo ID.
  2. Present (or obtain) a valid LPL library card. (No guest use at this time.)
  3. Wear a face covering/mask.
  4. Time will be limited to 30 minutes per patron access (no extensions given)
  5. Library staff may not assist patrons with operations or tasks on the computer (with the exception of verbal instruction from behind the circulation desk.)
  6. One person per computer (Patrons may not bring anyone with them to assist with operation of computer hardware/software due to distancing guidelines.)
  • In addition, the library will be resuming copy services, Notary services and Passport services.
  • Passport services – We will be processing them by appointment only, and can be scheduled by emailing (anytime), texting 409-920-7950 (anytime) or calling 409-755-7400 ext. 113 (between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday only)
  • Community Room – closed

Online Reservation – We encourage patrons to take advantage of online reservations. Once your items have been pulled from the shelves by our staff, we will call or email to let you know they are ready for pick up.
